When couples imagine their wedding day, they often hope for clear skies and sunshine. But as any experienced wedding photographer in Northeast Ohio will tell you, some of the most beautiful wedding days happen beneath a cloudy sky. Take this rainy spring church wedding for example: pure proof that the drizzle doesn’t take away from the romance. If anything, it adds a layer of intimacy, emotion, and timelessness to the day.
Alexis and Maxwell’s day held every version of perfection. From quiet moments after their St. Sebastian Parish ceremony, to loud (Grinch-filled) toasts at the reception. From Alexis’ sister designing the florals to the entire day holding a slew of intimate family moments. The most stand out part? Probably a tie between their bubble exit and how they confidently stepped out of the limo after some rain (sans shoes for some)! The lake where we captured portraits, seemed to exhale for us. There was a mist floating above the water that made Alexis and Maxwell look as if they stepped into a painting.
If I may be so bold: rainy wedding days often encourage everyone to slow down and be present. They create opportunities for genuine emotion, authentic interactions, and chances to photograph the timeless wedding feeling you see in movies or Pinterest blogs. It makes my job as a candid wedding photographer easier, because the outlook rainy days bring is my key reminder: don’t hope for perfect weather — just embrace whatever your wedding day brings.
With thoughtful planning, a beautiful church, and a willingness to enjoy every moment together, Alexis and Maxwell’s wedding gallery reflects their love story exactly as it happened.
Dare I end this post with the two texts I received right after sending them wedding teasers?
